Keep Moving Forward Taking Action With Visible Reminders

Do you like having a clear desk?

I know that I do. However, there is something else I keep on my desk to help me move forward on a regular basis.

What is it?

It’s a simple 3″ x 5″ index card with the “top” folded over so that the card is angled toward my eyes.

On the card I have written where my goals are and how I can help myself accomplish these goals.

This is not steps like “think more about goals” or “think happy thoughts”!

What works the best is to remind yourself that finding the action you can take towards that goal(s) is the most important step followed up by taking that action.

Imperfect action beats perfect inaction.

Many of us, myself included, can get lost in analysis and forget that you need to take that first step.

Not sure how to start writing that letter? Open up your notepad and start writing.

Lost for ideas on what to do next? Open up a text file and brainstorm – pick one and start.

Have a major home renovation that is going to cost tens of thousands of dollars and takes months to fix? Write out the major steps, break them down, and take action on one today.

The Motivation

I got this idea from a book called the “10X Rule”. If you’re interested in checking it out, you can find it here: https://productivity.academy/10xrule

You’ll either love it or hate it – it’s very polarizing and leans strongly towards taking action.

Hopefully you have a similar system in place. If not, try writing out what keeps you moving on a card and pop it onto your desk, wall, or computer. I guarantee it will help you on a daily basis.
